THE CITY'S ENGINEER'S OFFICE
The City Engineering Office is headed by Wain Gaskins. They employ a little over 160 employees. This division is responsible for design, survey, and inspection during construction of streets, bridges, storm drains, sanitary sewers, traffic control devices and City facilities. This division also provides installation and maintenance of signs and markings along streets and maintenance of traffic lights for the City and County municipalities. In addition the City Engineer’s Office coordinates major construction projects with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and provides review and approval of developer designed public improvements. The Engineering budget in 1992 was $5,608,590.
